Far Cry 5: "It has been a challenge to make such a big world"

From Ubisoft, they explain the challenge of the gigantic world of their first-person shooter.

√Čtienne Carrier, one of the Ubisoft artists for the development of Far Cry 5, has spoken through the official PlayStation blog about the challenges they have faced during the production of their action and open world titles. Especially those related to the monstrous size of its mapping.

"In Far Cry 5, the team used state-of-the-art technology to recreate the magnificence of our fictitious universe of Hope County, Montana," Carrier explains at a meeting to discuss the creation of his open world. "What was a great challenge for us was the great size of this world, we had to find solutions to fill those large open spaces in a beautiful, fast way and with the necessary flexibility so that they could be visited numerous times".

"At the same time, it was also necessary to allow some small areas to be improved in order to have satisfactory gaming experiences, filling empty space is easy, but filling it up and appearing natural is an even greater challenge," continues the creative, who assures that they have employee tools that are "normally used in the film industry to create complex visual effects", but that they have "taken advantage of to go a little further".

Far Cry 5, it should be remembered, goes on sale on March 27 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and its campaign has an estimated duration of about 25 hours.
