Call of Duty: WWII led the digital consoles market in February

The US digital market was driven by the success of Fortnite

The analysis of SuperData, which shows the performance of the digital video game market in February, reports a global growth of 6% compared to the same month of 2017, this translates into sales of $ 9100 MDD. In specific areas, the market for social games and pay-to-play in PC registered a decrease of 1% and 8% respectively, while the premium sector of the platform grew 33% and the free-to-play sector fell 4%.

Regarding the digital market in consoles, there was a growth of 34% compared to February 2017 and the sector is led by Call of Duty: WWII, which was the game that generated the most revenue during February in consoles. The success of the game distributed by Activision is followed by FIFA 18 and by Fortnite, a title that boosted the digital console market, specifically that of free-to-play games, causing a growth of 359% compared to February 2017. In the case of Fortnite, the analysis of SuperData refers that it was the game that added more content after Call of Duty: WWII and the number of active players in its community already exceeds that of Grand Theft Auto V. In addition, the game of Epic Games was one of the main drivers of the digital market in the US. However, the outlook of its competitor in the Battle Royale genre, PUBG, shows a decrease in sales of the PC version, which in total terms is offset by the response it has had after its debut on Xbox One.
