Ataribox is renamed Atari VCS and presents new controls

The company will open reserves for its new console in the month of April.

The so-called Atari box is now officially called Atari VCS. The American company has chosen GDC 2018 in San Francisco to report on the baptism of Atari's first foray into hardware in several years.

It has not been the only announcement. The event has also served to present the prototypes of two new controls for the system: Classic Joystick and Modern Controller. The first is inspired by the Atari 2600's joystick, while the second is based on a design more similar to that seen in the Xbox and Nintendo Switch controls.

Atari has also announced that it is working with game developers, content creators and other industry partners to finalize details about its ambitious device. Atari VCS (Video Computer System), we remember, will bet to allow the player to enjoy classic and modern video games.

In the month of December, the term of reserves of the consoles was postponed until further notice. Now the opening of the early purchase period has been dated for the month of April without offering more details about it. It will touch waiting a few more weeks.
