Germany - Bloemen gets gold over 10,000 meters


Pyeongchang. The German hopefuls Patrick Beckert has clearly missed the medal ranks over the 10,000 m in the first non-Dutch speed skating victory of the Winter Games in Pyeongchang.


The 27-year-old Erfurt won the gold medal of the Canadian world record holder Ted-Jan Bloemen in 13: 01,94 minutes seventh place. Behind Bloemen, who won in an Olympic record time of 12: 39.77 minutes, the Sochi Olympic champion Jorrit Bergsma (Netherlands) won silver and the Italian Nicola Tumolero bronze.

The second German starter Moritz Geisreiter (Inzell / 13: 06.35) finished ninth, world champion Sven Kramer (Netherlands / 13: 01.02), winner of the 5000 m, only ran in sixth place.
